First Hearing of Atalia Praratya–Ridwan Kamil Divorce Case Held at Bandung Religious Court

Bandung MATA 30 NEWS — The first hearing of the divorce lawsuit filed by Atalia Praratya against her husband, Ridwan Kamil, was held today at the Bandung Religious Court, West Java, on Wednesday (December 17).

The initial session was scheduled to verify the identities of both parties and their legal representatives, followed by the mandatory mediation process.

Atalia Praratya’s legal counsel, Debi Agusfriansa, confirmed that his client has formally appointed him to represent her in the divorce proceedings and emphasized that Atalia respects all legal processes currently underway.

“For now, regarding Mrs. Atalia’s attendance at today’s hearing, it is still scheduled for her to be present. However, we are awaiting confirmation due to her official duties,” Debi said when contacted in Bandung on Tuesday (December 16).

Meanwhile, Bandung Religious Court spokesperson Ikhwan Sofyan explained that, in accordance with procedural law, the panel of judges assigned to the case summons both parties to attend the first hearing.

Ikhwan stated that the initial stage of the trial includes verification of the identities of the litigants and their legal representatives. After this phase, the court proceeds with mediation.

“The decision on whether the hearing is conducted openly or behind closed doors is entirely at the discretion of the panel of judges,” Ikhwan said.

He added that all civil cases filed with the court are required to undergo mediation before moving on to substantive hearings. These subsequent stages include the reading of the lawsuit, responses, rebuttals, evidentiary hearings, conclusions, and ultimately the court’s verdict.

According to Ikhwan, during mediation, the parties are generally required to be present in person. However, under certain conditions, representation by legal counsel is permitted.

Atalia Praratya, who currently serves as a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), officially filed the divorce lawsuit against her husband, former West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil, at the Bandung Religious Court. The case has been formally registered and scheduled for hearings this week.

Bandung Religious Court registrar Dede Supriadi confirmed the filing of the divorce case.

“The information is correct. The case has been registered and is set to begin hearings this week,” Dede said.

Atalia Praratya and Ridwan Kamil were married on December 7, 1996. They have two children from their marriage: the late Emmeril Kahn Mumtadz and Camillia Laetitia Azzzahra. In 2020, the couple also adopted a son, Arkana Aidan Misbach.

Ridwan Kamil has recently been in the public spotlight following allegations of a personal relationship with a social media influencer, Lisa Mariana, including claims of having a child. The allegations were reported to the police; however, DNA test results conducted by the National Police Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim Polri) concluded that the child’s DNA does not match Ridwan Kamil.(MR)***
